Obama Email Pushes Voter Registration

September 12th, 2008

Interesting angle on email advocacy from the Obama campaign — today they used a message to their list to drive voter registration via the Vote For Change site [note the tracking code embedded in the landing page URL], while also explicitly pushing supporters to help the note go viral. The registration angle fits into the campaign’s goal of expanding the base, both in terms of people and in terms of states, and it also comes as Obama’s on-the-ground staff are pushing toward the end of a registration drive that has already yielded millions of new voters this year.

The attempted viral angle isn’t subtle, since the subject line reads, “Forward this email.” With the conservative base apparently all fired up over Sarah Palin (for now at least), I suspect that every vote is looking more and more precious.

Update: Obama online ads are pushing voter registration as well.
