Two Upcoming Events

July 27th, 2006

If you’re in the DC area, here are two upcoming events of interest: my old friend Hank Dearden’s regular Second Tuesdays New Media Cocktails and Networking Night on August 8th and Alan Rosenblat’s next Internet Advocacy Roundtable on August 17th. Their invitations follow….

New Media Cocktails and Networking

Some people say that DC is “dead” in August, but like the song says: “ya just gotta poke around”. Plenty of people are on vacation, sure, but plenty have already taken their breaks and will be in town to close deals, look for new jobs, look for new employees, or just enjoy the long list of summer-in-DC activities.

So, in that spirit we continue in August with our successful 2nd Tuesday “dot com” networking series. We are averaging 70 attendees over the last few events and hope to keep building the buzz. We’ve been meeting monthly (since last October) to network, share war stories, swap schemes, schmooze, spread resumes, invest, find investment, collect resumes, reconnect with pals from “back in the day” and just relax.

Bring your friends and associates to enjoy an evening of networking and lively conversation with ‘Net savvy peers in a cool setting.

Internet Advocacy Roundtable

Join Us on Thursday, August 17 for the Internet Advocacy Roundtable:
The Mind of Mele: Nicco Mele on the Impact of Web 2.0 on Politics

Nicco Mele is one of the brightest minds in the field of Internet politics. After serving as the man behind the Internet curtain for Governor Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign, Nicco founded echoditto in order to create vibrant communities online and enable people to tap their political power through the creative use of emerging technologies. Following on his progressive values, he believes that building authentic internet voices and the establishment of a vigorous open source community is critical to the functioning of our democracy.

Web 2.0 is the moniker for using the Internet to create powerful social networks. Tapping into the power of these online communities is quickly becoming the key to successfully leveraging the Internet for political and advocacy campaigns.

Join us for a lively discussion of how the Web 2.0 is transforming politics and advocacy. Join us for a tour inside the mind of Mele.

When: Thursday, August 17, 2006, Noon - 2:00 PM
