OMGGOPWTF.com Turns Republican Weirdness into Cash for Progressive Organizations

For a quick laugh and a chance to raise money for some good Lefties, but sure to head over to OMGGOPWTF.com. Here’s how the site works, according to Madeline Stanionis:

Each week, we post five questions about the latest conservative kookiness in the news. We invite people to take the quiz, and every correct answer will equal $0.10 for the featured progressive organization of the week. AKA conservative claptrap = lefty cash! Yay!

Good fun all around! And since they’ve raised hundreds to thousands of dollars for the chosen organizations, be sure to contact Heather Buchheim if yours might want to participate.

  • OK, but… the gop question I got was about chuck norris saying the president didn’t mention jesus enough in christmas speech before he spoke. I guess wacky but it isn’t that wacky is it? Then they ask for your email and name.

So it is a name collecting gimick. I felt a little bait-and-switch, and the question wasn’t so good. But maybe that is the trick, a bad question to get to put your name in cause you want a better question about GOP wackyness. 🙂

  • Good points, John! Madeline, what’s up with the name collection? Any disclosure at the signup?

  • Hi there –

Before you can take your second question, you are asked for your email with the following text:

“By taking the quiz, you’ll periodically receive updates on offers and activism opportunities from CREDO. You can unsubscribe at any time. The first time you take the quiz, up to $0.50 will be donated to the organization of the week. Sorry, U.S. residents only.”

It is absolutely a name collection device for CREDO – and a win for the recipient orgs.
