GetActive’s CEO Prepares to Bow Out

September 12th, 2007

Just got an email from Con/Active headquarters, and not an entirely unexpected one — former GetActive CEO Sheeraz Haji is beginning to transition away from day-to-day operations at the newly merged online activism supergroup “to take some time off and eventually pursue a new venture.” This being DC, he’s also planning to “spend more time with my family,” as is apparently required by law of anyone leaving a politics-related job. Convio was the dominant partner in the GetActive/Convio merger, and it’s quite common for the founders of an acquired company to move on, so I’d actually heard (informed?) speculation that he’d soon be leaving. Haji will still be on the Convio board, but it’s one more sign of the gradual disappearance of a company with which many of us in the online advocacy world have had good experiences.
